Walk the Line (2005)
Hello, my name is Johnny Cash
|
I found out after watching the movie that his actual given name was J.R. His family called him J.R. but I didn’t realize that it didn’t stand for anything.
At the Oscar’s, Stewart described Walk the Line as Ray with white people. In some ways, that is right on. But that makes it all the more impressive that I left really liking the movie. I didn’t think that anyone named Joaquin could actually turn in a good portrayal of Cash, but he was really good. Though I think he and Reese are much better looking than their real life counterparts. One big difference between this film and Ray was the female characters and I was real surprised at how strong June Carter was. did you know that she could bench press 200 lbs!
Of course, I was probably biassed by the fact that I really like the music. So all the music montages were real fun. You also got to see film portrayals of other famous musicians of the day.
i get generally annoyed at how good-looking everyone has to be in movies. it was especially weird in monster how they had to get charlize theron and make her ugly. just get an ugly actress to start with! it’s like that monty python sketch where they dig the hole and then put a box in it to stand on.
anyways, 200 lbs?!?

I think the problem with finding actors to play normal-looking or ugly people is that there just aren’t very many normal, let alone, ugly looking actors out there. Could you imagine someone who looked like Theron in Monster as having a successful film career?
What can I say, she was a very strong character.

there are plenty of ugly actors, but none that will make a film any money.
also, i think if they had an ugly actress the audience would feel bad about seeing how ugly she is, but if you ugly up theron then it’s easier to watch cause you know she can go back to being attractive again.

That is like, something that belongs in a book of quotations.
