I saw part of this in a class the other days and it brought back a few thoughts I have on the movie. Primarily I remember being surprisingly entertained when I saw it in the theater. It is simply a nicely paced action movie with some interesting plot twists and Spielburg executes it very well. I also really like the computer technology that seems to be the computer technology that seems to be an extreme nintendo power glove combined with a projected screen, some fancy video technology and windows 3000.

But in other movies Spielburg is just not as good. I tihnk the things that make minority report good are that he spends less time showing us the humanity of the characters and more time having Tom Cruises eyeballs taken out. Now that’s a movie!

I thought this wa pretty interesting and well done. Patton was definitely an interesting character. I thought the scenes showing the germans being afraid of him were a bit heavy as was his hate of the russians. it seemed to voice a lot of cold war frustrations - why don’t the politicians let us end what we start, etc. pretty astute acting all around. the gender angle was also interesting as the only women we see are a british women’s group he speaks to and some burly russians at the end.

also interesting was a teacher’s decision to show this to an ESL history class. they had absolutley no clue what was going on. i have never seen so many heads hit so many desks so fast.
