my initial thought at seeing teh previews for spiderman 3 was, “holy crap, there is going to be a lot of stuff happening here.” later i saw some other previews and heard some positive hype and thought “well, maybe rami can pull it off.” after watching the movie, it seems like the film tended more towards the former expectation. i really liked spiderman 2 because it did such a nice job of capturing peter parker’s problems and put them into a nice rhythm with a supervillian plot. he created solid continuity between the happy parker montage and an awesome doc ock fight scene on a subway.
This movie seemed to attempt some of that same blending, but it felt a bit forced. There were some great CGI fight scenes but the bad peter parker theme was just not compelling for me.
